What else? There’s a lot happening this week. We always have Spirit Week the week before Halloween, there’s a full moon, and it’s just one of those weeks when the energy is running high. Pray for all your teacher friends! Teachers are ready for a break, and with kids eating more sugar, things can get a little rough. CALM FLOW, CALM FLOW! 😂
I’m wrapping up a course. Just one last assignment, and I’ll be finished! This is a big deal because I have to take one final test, and then I’ll have my license to teach in SC. LOL! I laugh because I’ve been taking classes and going to school to become a teacher for years—all while teaching!
I would never encourage anyone to take this path, and I don’t mean teaching itself. I mean going about this career in the manner I have. I’ve been at the bottom rung of the pay scale for years. So, if you’re planning to teach and you can, get your degree, get your master’s, and then start teaching as early as you can. The way teacher pay scales work, you generally earn more the longer you stay in the profession. The downside is that you spend years working your way up, and even the best pay isn’t nearly enough! It’s one reason teachers stay in the profession for so long or get out.
Switching gears! I didn’t mean to go down that little rabbit hole with you.
We had a lovely time sketching with Urban Sketchers last weekend at Saluda Shoals Park. It was less urban and more nature, which was so nice! Here’s my little painting from that outing.
Nature was everywhere! We even rescued a turtle that was in the road. We saw this beautiful grasshopper and a black racer snake? Leave a comment if you think it was a different kind of snake!
Jules and I are prepping for the Sesqui Artisan’s Market. It’s Sunday, November 8th, so if you’re in Columbia, mark your calendar and come on by! We’re making some really great handmade gifts. I can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on!
