Blind Faith

Hi Everyone,

This week is what I call a marathon week. A lot has been happening behind the scenes to bring several projects together.

Making art for Cottontown Art Crawl.

Matting artwork for our district wide show at the Koger Center.

Working on displays for our first Glow Show at school.

All of these projects including making art and teaching—require a bit of blind faith. If you trust the process and have that blind faith that it will come together, more often than not, it does. I love that. I like being surprised by the outcome.

Teaching art lessons with students can feel the same way. You know what you want to show them and what you hope they’ll learn. Sometimes the lesson lands beautifully, and you’re happily surprised by the effort and creativity students bring to their work. Other times it flops, and you have to step back and figure out what happened—what needs adjusting or changing for the next group.

I’ve come to realize that this is simply part of the creative life. Whether it’s my own artwork or a lesson with students, there is always a moment where you have to trust the process and keep going. You plan, prepare, and put in the work, but you don’t always know exactly how it will turn out. And maybe that’s the beauty of it. There’s something special about allowing space for the unexpected—about stepping back and letting the work, the students, and the moment reveal something you didn’t quite plan for. Those little surprises are often the best part.

Cheers everyone I hope you're having a lovely week!  I'm sending you calm creative energy.

Eileen
