Winter Medley of happenings
Wow, snow in Columbia, SC! It's that beautiful light airy snow that gives a good dusting and melts as the sun warms. So pretty! Reminds me of our years in Denver where we saw every type of snow.
I'm sharing another good playlist. This one by Jeff Tweedy (lead band member of Wilco):
I will make one of my own soon. I've been keeping track of positive songs to play at school, so look for that soon. :) I don't know about you but I find that the playlist algorithms get very repetitive with their song choices, so I love finding and listening to other artist's playlists!
It's been cold enough that I moved my computer table into the guest bedroom. The sunroom is my favorite room; however, it's not very well insulated, so I did a little rearranging.
We haven't had school for the past 2 Mondays because of MLK and icy weather. So, I spent some of that time cutting cardboard for the 2nd graders. They are making African Masks. I even found a way to add these to our glow show. I took pasta and rice and poured it into a baggy with neon paint, shook it all up and voila. I've never done this before but man the results are very satisfying!! Look at the colors. I'll post a picture of the masks as they work on them.

These are a couple of my most recent journal pages. The first inspired by The Power of the Bear book that I mentioned in the last blog; this is a study of Susan Seddon Boulet's Bear Woman 1986 painting. I am playing with tools and new techniques. I painted the background with black chalk board paint and layered colored pencil and oil pastel and worked on etching into the surface, so fun. I love how the colored pencil feels on that matte chalky surface! I can't wait to use this technique larger.
Alright friends and family, I hope you're staying warm and enjoying the day! Stay on the sunny side of life - Big hugs to all of you.
Cheers, Eileen
