These were some sketches that I worked on during Spring Break. My husband and I took a little trip to Oregon. Nature never fails to inspire me and the art that I teach students.

My New Classroom

Hi Everyone! School has begun here in South Carolina. This week marked the first full week of school. It's an adventure teaching. I had training online the month of July. I also had a couple of days for district training. Then, finally the first of August we were allowed in our building. Nine days later school began. There was major cleaning, taking inventory, and figuring out a plan for the first week of school. (Oh, and hurricane Debby stopped by and said hello, very little damage 👃) As is true with most schools it's an absolute hustle at the end, people figuring out schedules, students being enrolled, etc. I didn't know my schedule until the day before school started. I am so thankful that I kept things super simple and taught the same lesson for K-2 and a lesson for 3-5. Both went well. I loved the sculpture project with the younger ones! Art Soul Gathering

Art Soul Gathering 2023 - Hosted by Ida Anderson Lang I have been participating in this free online gathering. Why do I participate in these? I learn art techniques, use materials or subject matters that I wouldn't always think of, and they are a good source for providing inspiration. I am to a place now with my art practice that I'm comfortable enough to branch out and try some new things without being so hung up on results or if mine looks like the instructors. Let me show you.... Lesson by: Ida Lang - I don't normally do portraits but it's still fun to play and expand. I used watercolor and finished with fine line marker. Dawn Vander Stoep was the instructor for this lesson. Mine is similar but she did hers with pan pastel - her technique was wonderful to watch but I don't have any pan pastels (something to try in the future, so cool); therefore, I used some markers.
