Word for the Year!

Choosing a Word of the Year!

my word this year (drum roll)

E X P A N D

(sample of robot for kids at school - I'll post photos soon:)

Definition: Become or make larger or more extensive - undergo a continuous change

We all have our practices for the New Year (goals, intentions, vision boards) or your practice is not to have a practice (I get that too); however this has been one that I've done the last 2 years and I really like it.  Last years word was gracious, the year prior was abundance.  I think about the word at the end of each day.  How was I gracious today?  How did I witness abundance today?  I use it as a pause.  And a way of focusing on what I want and showing gratitude for so much in my life.

This year I want to expand my art practice.

I want to expand all of the good in my life.

I want to expand healthy eating (I could really use a tune up in this department).

Expand breathing deeply and exercise.

Expand how I look at the world.

Expand my gratitude

Expand how I teach

Expand my relationships

Expand my patience (that won't be hard since I'm not very patient especially at home, laughing)

So, if you would like to do this... start with a list of words that you like.  Really picture what you want next year to feel like or look like.  Then, narrow it down to 2-3 you like best.  Next, read the definition and use the thesaurus to find similar words, maybe there's one that is even better.  Last, close your eyes and picture all the ways you can think about that word in your life.  Ask if this is the right word?  You will know.  Trust your gut and write it in your journal.  That's really it but use it as an anchor and picture that word when you're bored, overwhelmed, at the end of the day, etc.  Then, in a year ask yourself if that word made you have more __________ in your life?  It bet it will.  It has me.

Happy Sunday Everyone,

Love, Eileen

It's been chilly here and it was frosty this morning.  Schools closed early on Friday due to cold weather and freezing rain.
