Fall Art from the Classroom

Fall Projects have been happening, so I wanted to give you a little peek inside.  There's a video at the end.

I just want to say up front that I did not create all of the lessons below; I borrowed them from other creators and  have given them credit.  Isn't it just wonderful the resources we have!   It makes our lessons more layered and thoughtful.

4th and 5th Graders have been working on the skeleton hands.  This is a lesson from Art with Ms. Cushwa on youtube.  I really like these, they take some skill but I think it's just the right amount.  Here's my lesson plan and link to the video I used in creating them.

3rd Graders have been working on the Fall Tree Collage - this was a great one week lesson.  It's wonderful to mix in a quicker project!

They are also making these adorable birds!  My neighbor gifted me all of these clean yogurt containers and I was looking through the Davis curriculum and they had this lesson about making birds and I thought how perfect.  The hardest part is teaching students how to curl the paper; however, I've figured out how to teach the curling with a ruler and pulling the strip up.  Anyway, funny what challenges us.
Kindergarten and first grade made these cute pumpkins, this is another fun one day project but helped their cutting and gluing skills.  I made a sheet with faces so they could pick and choose which parts they wanted to use.  https://docs.google.com/document/d/14uxsni_75MRwbubEMA6-oBKNpXJif54awqyoHkeRJac/edit?usp=sharing
Another one with 3rd Grade, these cute color wheel spider webs. This was based on a short video that Katie Jarvis put out on youtube.  I have both the lesson plan and presentation for this.  Students have a really hard time making the u-shaped lines, so that's what I helped the students with the most.   The key tip with the painting, have them start with yellow!!  https://docs.google.com/document/d/1k0I_4tm1ka2McWrH6zPfJ2NqjLiVnxIMonoLFnFAgD8/edit?usp=sharing

5th graders have been working on Haunted Houses.  I love this lesson from Make a Mark Studio, because I have laminated the worksheets for them to follow which gives samples of style homes, doors, windows, etc.  Super helpful and fun.  These are done on black paper with oil pastels.

2nd Graders have made Mummy eyes, resource for this Mmemarissa, com.  Great practice for listening to steps.  They color the eyes with oil pastel, cut them out, put them on black paper, then tear strips of gray and put on top.  Most of them finished in one week, fun project.   https://docs.google.com/document/d/1k0I_4tm1ka2McWrH6zPfJ2NqjLiVnxIMonoLFnFAgD8/edit?usp=sharing

Last but not least are these silhouette paintings.  These were based on a photo from pinterest.  We painted the background week one and then practiced drawing birds and other animals that might work and then they drew the scene with black markers.  https://docs.google.com/document/d/1J0T1phubOwx88K-CgGZPkD6tMPx0nlIfgKz8PDU1IKI/edit?usp=sharing
